Hello friends! With my group this year, it seems like sight words just aren't sticking. I wanted to compile all of the things that help  my little ones into one sheet to use during our RTI time. Springing Into Science Blog Hop {Freebie and Giveaway!}

How do you integrate Science into your curriculum? Some units are easy to integrate and others are not. Here's a peek at what we've been up to this week and it includes a lot of Science!

My kinders have LOVED learning about life cycles. To correlate with Earth Day this week, we have worked with the life cycle of a plant.

I have been using labels for my anchor charts that are like this. I print and laminate them first. Then, I tape them onto my paper. My paper came from the mailing section. It's technically packing paper and comes in a large pack. One pack lasts me for the whole year. And, unlike butcher paper it's already cut to the right size and I don't have crooked anchor charts from my lack of being able to cut in a straight line.  The only problem is it is a little thin. 

By doing this I can prep my anchor charts way ahead of time and check that off of my list!

This was on our focus wall. My students also use this to help with their writing when they are wanting to spell on of those words.

Organizing Supplies with Tables {and freebie}

Hello friends! I recently asked on my FB if you all preferred tables or desks. I got several replies and it seemed that we all have a lot of different opinions. LOL 

I have had both desks and tables and I have to say that I love my tables. They stay where they are supposed to and there's nothing for the kiddos to mess in or store papers in. The downside...there's no where for all of their stuff! Here's how I manage their supplies.

You can get these at Wal-Mart. They were either with the silverware or with the clothespins and things you put your dishes in to dry by your sink. They were very inexpensive and I've had mine for several years. My kinders stash their pencils, crayons, scissors, glue and dry erase marker in there. Yes, they do tip over every now and then, but it's not been an issue. 

Instead of taping their name tag on the table, I type out their name tags, print on colored paper and tape to the basket (this basket is turned around to hide the name). 

For me this is easier than pencil boxes. I like community supplies and having tubs in the middle. With this group of kids, it didn't quite work. And with a large class this year, it's hard to make sure the supplies are within reach for everyone at the table.

This has been super helpful with the Easter Bunny visits!

They think the Easter Bunny has their supply baskets confused with real baskets. :)

Our Space Week {with Freebie} and Currently

Hello friends! First off...March Currently from Farley: 

Some of these need an explanation:

Listening: my bulldog, Tank, loves his toys. He especially loves his teddy bear. He drags is all over the house and will lay on it while sucking on its head. It's totally adorable, but sometimes LOUD!

Needing: Our phone contract was finally up and we were ready to get some decent phones. I, however, am cheap. So when we went to Verizon and I saw the price tags on how much the phones were when renewing...we walked out.Yes, yes, I know, you are stuck with it for 2 years it might as well be a good one. I just couldn't do it. My hubby went searching on line and saw that Best Buy had the iPhone 5c for $50! We went and did that. I'm pretty excited, but am not iAnything savvy. So we shall see how this goes.

???? You have my answer...what do you think the question is? The first person to correctly answer in the comments (with their email) will get my unit that kinda goes along with it. :)

Now....SPACE WEEK!

I have tons of pictures to share with you. I had more...but they are on my old phone and for some reason would transfer and are basically gone to me. 

 We made rockets. Their goal was to stay on green all week so their rocket didn't crash and they could make galaxy dough. Seriously the March Spring Craziness has already begun in my room. 

All that you need for galaxy dough. 1/4c salt, 1c flour, Kool-Aid packet and 1/4c water. Mix together and you have fruity smelling play dough. Add in some glitter for the space effect. My kids love this every year. I took pictures of them playing with it, but that's on the old phone. 

 This is an old favorite from a Mailbox book. I love adding their picture to it!

 Their writing this week was out of this world! I don't know where these writing papers came from. If you do, please let me know! They are fantastic!

 We added an alien to this one!

Bright Math Ideas Blog Hop {with freebie!}

Hello friends! I'm joining in with my awesome blogger buddies to bring you the Bright Math Ideas Blog Hop!

Here is my non life-changing idea that may help you with decomposing numbers.

My partner teacher and I were planning our Math out for the next several weeks. We weren't exactly sure what to do for decomposing numbers. Our Math series has nothing, zip, nada on decomposing numbers. So we mapped out what we would want in a worksheet activity and I went a little wild with the creating: 

We felt that it was  important for the students to think in different ways and use different tools to help them along the way. There are 3 different levels for each number (this is the middle one) to help in differentiating (and it's on sale!). 

I love letting my kinders us 2 sided counters to figure out their problems. I have the foam ones so...no noise! If you didn't get any with your wonderful Math series, Really Good Stuff has some and does probably any teacher supply store.

 Now, I have a little freebie for you! You get to try out a decomposing number worksheet at all 3 levels. I'd love to know what you think and if this will help your kinders with decomposing!

Tooth Fairy Week {with freebies!}

Hello friends! We are finally ready to work on our Tooth Fairy/Dental Health unit. I'm so excited! I LOVE this one! Here's a little peek at what we are working on this week:

On the first day we are going to read "You Think It's Easy Being the Tooth Fairy?" and write in our Tooth Fairy booklets. I love this book for telling the "practical hard-working" side of the Tooth Fairy.

Then, on to another favorite, "Moose's Loose Tooth". This would be great for sequencing, however this year I'm using it for comprehension. After we read the book, we are going to graph who has and has not lost a tooth. Then I will reread the book and students will take a comprehension test on it. 

Our last book of the week will be "Tooth Trouble". After reading and discussing that the dentist is not so scary after all, we will write about what the main idea of the story is. Any time we write, we are highly encouraged to use a rubric in grading and checking mechanics. To makes things simple, the rubric on on the paper.

On Friday, my little ones will get to bring a stuffed animal to school. We will practice the art of brushing teeth with our construction paper toothbrushes and stuffed animals.
