St. Patrick's Day FUN!

We had a wild and crazy Friday in my little kindergarten classroom. Our little leprechaun, Scotty (my husband, who loves helping me trash my room) made a visit. Here are some pictures of what he left for us.
Everything from our reading center was thrown everywhere onto our meeting rug

Footprints, gold and candy were left on all of the tables
He even got into our cookies!

I forgot to take pictures of our cubbies. They were covered in streamers!
Amazingly, my little ones were able to put their excitement aside, clean up the craziness, chill out and begin our day. I was happily surprised.

Later that day, we wrote about leprechauns and made one to go with our writing. One of my little girls wasn't too excited about making a boy leprechaun and wanted to use the strips for the beard for hair instead. Those turned out so cute!

We also made Reagan Tunstall's Rainbow Name-bow activity. I sent home the parent note with the paper provided and 13 of my 19 darlings brought theirs back. I loved seeing what the parents wrote down for each letter. I LOVE these!!

Getting Ready For St. Patrick's Day!

I'm trying to get ready for St. Patrick's day. The way our spring break falls I'm doing St. Patrick one week and then Easter the next! Here are some of the things I have printed and just need to laminate or copy.

These are part of my Shamrock Sentences pack. I can't wait to use these with my kiddos. They really like unscrambling the sentence. I like have several different ones so that I can easily differentiate.

Here is another unit for St. Patrick's day. I have this one already printed, laminated and copies made all ready to go. {It's hard to believe that I'm actually ahead on something.} My kids absolutely love these old lady books and I do too.

I have finally took the plunge and created a Facebook page. Yikes! I would LOVE for you to check it out! And I've got a pretty cool freebie waiting there for you!

The Joy of St. Patrick's Day

We have been working so hard on St. Patrick's Day this week. My kiddos enjoyed "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover" and "The Luckiest St. Patrick's Day Ever". We've also used this as an opportunity to talk about leprechauns and add some cute stuff in as well.

I really stumped them we when talked about luck and lucky objects. However, this encouraged them to go home and search for 4 leaf clovers. Oh my goodness, I had one little girl somehow bring in enough 4 leaf clovers for everyone. And another brought in 3 zippy bags of just plain clovers. My kiddos are so precious. I hope that activity at least gave them some much needed time with their family.

But, oh are they in for a treat when they come in tomorrow morning. :) We've had a leprechaun visit us this week. Man, is he sneaky (heehee). Chairs have been turned upside down, things in cubbies misplaced, and rugs turned over. But I don't quite have my first graders convinced that there really is a leprechaun running around our school (it's hard for me to keep my composure and be "surprised", I have as much fun with this as they do). So this is what my little darlings are going to see:

"Footprints" with gold glitter, rolos (for the gold) and green spearmint candies on every table.

Our reading center turned upside-down.
We made a graph about our favorite holidays and St. Patrick's Day couldn't beat out Easter. Our little leprechaun wasn't happy about that. LOL
Tape over all of the cubbies  - just for fun.

I can't wait to see them in the morning. Their darling faces when they see this will make all the work worth it. They still need to believe in magic!

We also did the things in my TPT unit -
